RIDER: Jason Conti
AGE: 22
CLASS: AMA District 16 Motocross Series

With 13 broken bones he can attribute to quad riding, including a freshly mended spine, Jason Conti said he got a late start to this year’s riding season. After “taking it easy” riding various TT races last year, 2007 was Conti’s year to get back into motocross.

“It’s been my goal always to race at a higher level and it just seems like every year something gets in the way,” he said.

Nine months of temporary paralysis has a way of doing that. “I get sore every time I ride, but I just kind of put it off to the side,” he said. “I love riding and that’s what I base my life around.”

Conti’s not kidding. After getting sucked into quads by a friend a few years back, he’s purchased and rebuilt (twice) his first sport quad, a TRX450R, become addicted to motocross racing and brought his snowmobile aftermarket company into the four-wheeled world.

FourWerx Motorsports is located in eastern Wisconsin and specializes in carbon fiber bolt-ons for the 450cc class and custom graphic kits.
This year, Conti decided to build an MX-worthy Yamaha YFZ and use it to showcase FourWerx’s carbon fiber parts. Conti estimates he’s shaved off 15 pounds with shrouds, a tank cover, induction scoops, coolant reservoir cover, heat shield, exhaust guard and shock knob guards.

The suspension components are primarily Walsh and Custom Axis and the engine was largely kept stock for reliability.

Graphics, designed to imitate factory precision, came from collaboration with a friend and will be for sale through the company in the future.
“I wanted to go for something very elegant looking,” he said. “I’ve always wanted to build something contrasting and use white suspension components — it sticks out.” — Kaiser
