Since the start of 2009, Hatfield-McCoy Trails has opened almost 80 percent of the 500-plus-mile-system to UTVs. All of the easiest (green) and more difficult (blue) trails, including the entire Little Coal River System about 20 miles south of Charleston, are open to UTVs that meet Hatfield-McCoy Trail specifications.
“UTVs continue to be the fastest growing segment of the off-road enthusiast market and we’re pleased to see more choices for vehicles suitable for use on the Trails,” said Hatfield-McCoy Executive Director Jeffrey T. Lusk. “This means more and more people will be able to take advantage of our system, which we are convinced is the best in the country.”
“The Cub Volunteer UTVs, including the 748cc EFI 4×4, , are among the most versatile, rugged, and exciting vehicles on the market today,” said Jeff Salamon, director of marketing, Cub Cadet. “The fully independent dual a-arm suspension and rugged 3” ladder-style steel frame of the Cub Volunteer 4×4 make it a truly versatile machine, able to handle aggressive terrain, while still offering all the benefits of a high load capacity UTV. The inclusion of the Cub Volunteer 4×4 as a Hatfield-McCoy approved UTV will provide the opportunity for a whole new audience to explore the Hatfield-McCoy trails.”
Each year, more than 30,000 people are issued permits for the Hatfield-McCoy Trail System. The Cub Volunteer joins the Kawasaki’s Teryx and Mule, Polaris’ Ranger and RZR, and the Yamaha Rhino as UTVs that are approved for use on the Hatfield-McCoy Trail System.
