definetly go name brand, the chinese bikes are great until you need parts, then you might as well throw it out, at least a name brand machine you can get new parts if it breaks.

I'd much sooner purchase a name brand machine off ebay or craigs list than buy one of the off brand machines brand new, generally speaking. You can find some nice deals on some barely used kids quads on thos sites. Saw a 4 year old Raptor 80 go for $850.00 on ebay a few weeks back, and the thing looked like brand new.
25" ITP Mudlite XTRs
Uni Air Filter
93 Octane Irving Gas
Dielectric grease
Fresh air in tires monthly
4.6 psi in tires instead of reccommended 4.5
Totalled Red King to get prettier Yellow King
Amsoil synthetics
Anodized aluminum valve stem caps

Raptor 80 is an absolute pos.
I had a chinese quad for my son (Aeon Extreme Machine X90). It happened to be the exact same quad as the Polaris minis. That worked out great, just head to the Polaris dealer for any parts. I didn't need many, but I busted the chain adjuster a couple of times. It was my fault. Other than that the little thing was great and didn't kill the bank. They grow out of them so fast no need to spent too much money and the "name brand" quads aren't any better and in many cases are actually a worse design.
That 90 of my son's smoked just about all the name brand quads at the time. He took a Honda 90, Raptor 80, and an LT80. I say if you have parts available, go for it. They actually get pretty good reviews.

Find the right brand and supplier and support and parts are plentiful. Finding a reputable distributor is the key. PM me if you choose to go this route for some recommendations as I have some real world experience with these unlike most on this site.

I have a 50cc Kazuma for three years now. The kids ride the heck out of it and the only problem it has had was the valves needed to be adjusted, but thats not a problem its just common maintenance. $850.00 seems to be alot to pay for a used 90 that they are going to outgrow within a couple years. I got the Kazuma shipped to my door for $450.00 brand new. I know i can get Yamoto's right up the road from my house and they have parts too. They got a 110 thats seems to fit my 6 year old perfect but its $1200.00. They also got a 250 clutch bike for $1899.99.
